I'm serious with this one. If one were to compile a list of the best groups of all time, it would probably include acts like:
- Outkast
- A Tribe Called Quest
- NWA
- Wu-Tang Clan
- De La Soul
I'd bet everything I own that Black Moon wouldn't show up on a lot of these lists. Why? They had the ingredients to become a great, well-known group. A great producer in DJ Evil Dee. A hell of a lyricist in Buckshot. Put together, they dropped one of the best hip-hop albums of 1993 with Enta Da Stage. They practically started the gritty battle rhyme style that other groups like Heltah Skeltah and, MOP, and Smif N Wessun would implement into their styles of rap. Unfortunately, it's hard to get love and stay on the radar when you go six years without dropping an album. Furthermore, Black Moon was largely done in by the ever-changing atmosphere of hip-hop; the subject matter for the group, while still effectively done, remained unchanged. Thus, the group was restricted to underground status. Still, this group should get more love than they do. Enta Da Stage is a classic, and both War Zone and Total Eclipse are both good albums in their own right. They only dropped three albums for a variety of reasons, but they're still a damn good group. Check them out.
